The wearing effects of muscular movements and gravity on the skin and surrounding tissues cause the first signs of facial aging to be seen in this area. Thus, eye area aesthetics are one of the first preferred surgeries among facial aesthetics surgeries. Over the years, the drooping and/or hollows in the upper eyelid or bagging and wrinkles on the lower eyelid may make one appear more tired and worn out. These problems usually appear in the early 40s. Deformations, asymmetries, drooping, or bagging can be removed with eyelid aesthetics surgeries both in the upper and lower eyelids.
In both upper and lower eyelid aesthetic surgeries, a younger, rested, and vivid appearance is targeted. With eyelid aesthetics (blepharoplasty), the surrounding tissues (such as eyebrows, midface) can also be treated for the purpose of rejuvenation via the same incisions. Canthoplasty, also called ?almond eye surgery? (the procedure of lifting the outer corner of the eyelid that is drooping due to aging), can be performed simultaneously with the same incisions as well.
For upper eyelid surgery, the incision is made through the natural fold of the eyelid for good concealment. The upper eyelid aesthetic surgery involves muscle tissue tightening, fat tissue repositioning, and excess skin removal. In some patients, application of an autologous fat filling particularly to the hollow part of the upper eyelid may be required.
In lower eyelid surgery, an incision is made just below the lower lashes or inside the eyelid (transconjunctival). To treat wrinkles and bags, the swollen tissues through the incision are arranged, and/or the skin excess is removed. With this surgery, PRP, mesotherapy, nanofat, and stem cell therapies can be combined.
